AGENCY AFFILIATION and CO-LOCATION Announcement between Capital City Volunteers and the James Bay Community ProjectDear Clients, Volunteers, Supporters, Colleagues and Partners, As you may be aware, like many non-profit organizations, Capital City Volunteers (CCV) has faced numerous financial challenges over the past few years; challenges that have stretched CCV's ability to provide ongoing service to our clients and their families. In order to adjust—to what we see as a new funding reality—over the past two years CCV has undertaken a search for like-minded organizations with whom we could work and take advantage of synergies and other opportunities. This search was extensive, and included not only funders, staff and Board members, but also a review of organizational missions, values, strategic goals, service focus and future priorities. Having recently concluded, our search has identified the James Bay Community Project (JBCP) as an organization with which we have much in common, and where there are opportunities to reduce operating costs and at the same time strengthen the future sustainability of CCV. We are very pleased that, as of February 6th, 2012, CCV will co-locate with the JBCP. At this time, CCV and the JBCP will undertake a formal Management Agreement that will see Kaye Kennish, Executive Director of the JBCP, oversee all aspects of CCV's operations for the remainder of calendar 2012. On a day-to-day basis, other than a new phone number and address (see below) the organization's operations will not change—this will ensure that the needs of CCV's current and future clients continue to be met. Pending the outcome of a formal evaluation to take place in December, 2012, both agencies have expressed interest in the possibility of pursing a complete and final merger. Results of the December evaluation will be shared with our community stakeholders when they are complete. Should you have any questions about the Affiliation or Co-location, please contact Kaye at 250-388-7844. Regards, Mike Shannon President, Board of Directors Capital City Volunteers
