Activity Assistant (#080601)

Work with a group of seniors in our S'Aging Program. Seniors get together to socialize and sometimes listen to guest speakers and share a light meal together. The group assistants and leaders contact the members of the group between meetings to make sure the seniors are doing well. Some planning and organizing involved.

Pool Partner (#080602)

Very nice lady with M.S. needs someone to go to the pool with her once a week to help get a bit of exercise and move her limbs for health reasons. She stays in the pool with her assistant for about half an hour and also needs a bit of help getting undressed and dressed. She usually goes to the Crystal Pool.

Walker / Visitor (#080603)

Lady in the Fairfield area needs someone to take walks with her for exercise and companionship. She has a bit of short-term memory loss but can have good conversations with her visitor. After a walk she would like to have a cup of tea with you.

Shopper (#080604)

Help a couple of vision-impaired women do their weekly shopping. One lady would like someone once a week; the other needs only someone once a month. The two women need someone to get items, read labels and generally select items. If you like to shop, this is a job for you.

Drivers (#080605)

Do you like to drive, meet new people? Have you got a couple of hours per week to spare? We have many seniors who would like your assistance to get to medical appointments and sometimes go shopping for food or personal items. You pick the time and date you are available. This is a great volunteer job as you can do it when you have time on an on-call basis. You get to meet lots of interesting people and help them get around the community.

Visitor (#080606)

Pleasant lady in her 60's would love to have some companionship on the weekend, either Saturday or Sunday. She loves to talk about positive things and maybe interested on going for an outing. She finds the weekend a very lonely time and wished to spend some quality time with another human being.

Visitor/ Outing Companion (#080607)

This man in his 50's loves chess and other board games. He has M.S. and is in a motorized wheelchair and can get around in that very well. He is also interested in getting around to events in the community or going out for coffee etc.

Man in his 70's who lives in the Blanchard/Hillside area in a seniors housing complex is lonely and would like to have that special volunteer in his life that he can spend some time talking to and socialize with. He has had an interesting life and connects better with people on a one to one basis. He may need someone to motivate him to go on short outings or walks in the community.

Outing Companion: (#080609)

Young women in her 30's would love a companion for adventures in the community. She lives independently in her own apartment but uses a motorized wheelchair to get about. She loves to go to community events, shopping and out and about. She has access to HandyDart that a companion can come along free of charge. She is very independent and loves to have fun.

Visitor: (#080610)

Active 90 year old women with some hearing impairment (uses hearing aids) would love to have a one to one companion to talk to about her life experiences and the concerns she has. Would also be interested in going out for coffee of a bite to eat and various community events as the mood takes you. She is quite gregarious.

Crib Player / Visitor: (#080611)

Retired university professor with various health problems that prevent him from going out much would love to spend some to one to one with someone and play crib. He is very intelligent and would love to talk about all sorts of things. He just needs another person in his life as he is unable to get our much and meet people for himself. Playing crib would be a nice way of doing something while getting to know each other.
